Ring Cup farce to be discussed by CCCC
Meath may yet have to re-play the Ring Cup final as the outcome of yesterday's controversial showdown is expected to be on the agenda when the GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee sit to discuss the issue on Tuesday.
Meath were deemed winners of yesterday's game against Antrim on a 2-18 to 1-20 scoreline however observers at the game felt Martin Ennis's side had been awarded a point too many.
Tipperary referee John O'Brien has also admitted that a mistake may have been made in the scoreline and now the GAA will have to sort out what the next step will be.
If it is shown that the scoreline was wrong it's most likely that the game will have to be re-played.
Such an outcome would be a major disappointment for Meath players who felt they had created a piece of history yesterday by winning the Ring Cup for the first time completing a remarkable comeback to achieve the feat.
At one stage Meath trailed by nine points but they hit back and with the help of 1-1 from Sean Quigley in the dramatic closing minutes they went in front.
It looked like they had won the trophy at that stage but now a question mark hangs over their triumph.
