NTA 'yes' to Kells health centre bus stop
The National Transport Authority (NTA) has confirmed that it is prepared to fund the provision of a bus stop at the newly opened Primary Care Centre in Kells.
The authority told Deputy Thomas Byrne this week that it is willing to fund the provision of a bus stop at the new centre on the Navan Road, which opened its doors in the past number of months.
“I was informed by the NTA that they were to contact the council with a view to making the necessary arrangements; however, I also received word from the transport department of Meath County Council that there has been no official confirmation of funding by the NTA, and it would appear that the council were unaware that such a commitment was imminent,” he said.
“I have since written to the the NTA’s deputy chief executive asking him to make contact with the council urgently. Such an obvious breakdown in communication only serves to delay the much-needed bus stop even more,” said the Fianna Fail TD.
He said the delay is causing considerable frustration among Kells residents, many of whom are having to pay private taxis to bring them to their appointments at the new centre, which is a short distance outside the town.
