Cortown School supports the Boys in Green
When the Irish team left Dublin Airport last Wednesday morning they were thrilled to see a poster wishing them luck, which had been designed by pupils of St Brigid’s National School in Cortown, Kells.
Manager, Martin O’Neill posed to have his photograph taken with the poster, which is now back in the school with signatures and best wishes from Martin O’Neill, Roy Keane, Shane Long, Robbie Keane and Shay Given.
The poster was produced by the boys and girls in Mr Jason Coffey’s 3rd and 4th classes in the school.
Principal, Tony Coogan, the staff and pupils were all thrilled the poster was on display. All of the pupils in Mr Coffey’s class had an input into the design of the poster and were very excited to know that the team saw it and appreciated their good wishes.
A parent at the school who works at Dublin airport arranged for the poster to go on display, teacher, Colin Quigley, explains.
The same parent also arranged for members of the Irish team to sign a football jersey, which was then raffled for school funds and the lucky winner was Ross Farrelly.
Meanwhile, the Green Army was in fine voice around the pubs of Navan on Monday evening as Ireland drew with Sweden in their opening Group E game in Paris. Ireland deserved all three points after a towering display against Zlatan and co however they had to settle for a point after Ciaran Clarke’s OG.
Martin O’Neill’s men now face Belgium in Bordeaux on Saturday.
