Meath residents told not to pursue suspicious cars
MEATH locals have been strongly advised not to follow suspect cars and vans spotted in their areas.
The warning comes after Meath Crime Prevention group received reports of members of the public chasing suspicious vehicles driving in their locality.
Writing on the MCP Facebook page Sgt Dean Kerins commented 'This is not something that I like to be hearing. I would strongly recommend that this practice stop immediatley.
'For anybody who has been involved in following and chasing suspicious persons in their communities you are leaving yourselves open to all sorts of actions.
'Criminals can easily turn on you and leave you in a vulnerable position. If you see any suspicious persons in your area please ring your local Garda station first.
'They may not be able to deal with the specific incident at that time but we do not want to see you getting into a dangerous situation by following these persons. Be sensible and stay safe.'
