Are you backing the local boys in green on Saturday?
Meath hurlers will head back to Croke Park on Saturday for a high-profile replay of the Christy Ring Cup final against Antrim following the controversy surrounding the initial encounter on 4th June that ended in a draw although Meath captain James Toher was presented with the trophy.
Leaving the controversy to one side, the publicity surrounding the subsequent discussions and the re-fixture put both Meath and Antrim into the limelight and there should be a big interest in Saturday's action - a game that will be preceded by an All-Ireland Intermediate camogie group game between Meath and Down.
“Everything is surprisingly upbeat in our camp. We had a tough couple of days after we were told we would have to replay, but the whole issue has been put to bed now and the lads have worked very hard since,” commented manager Martin Ennis.
Saturday's game will be handled by Cork referee Cathal McAllister and if the sides end level on this occasion there will be extra-time.
Throw-in for Saturday is a 5pm with the camogie game set for 3.15pm.
Tomorrow night Meath enthusiasts can meet the hurlers and show their support for the team at an open training session at Dunganny from 7pm. The Meath Chronicle will be doing a live video clip via Facebook from the event.
Will the manager make any changes from the first game for the starting line up on Saturday?
The team for Saturday will be announced at midday on Friday.
