Minor footballers bidding for final ticket
Meath minor manager Barry Callaghan and his selectors Darren Fay and Paddy Reynolds will be hoping for a win against Kildare at Pairc Tailteann tomorrow night in the Leinster MFC semi-final at 7.30pm.
After an opening round victory against Laois at O’Moore Park, Meath faced a highly-regarded Dublin side in the quarter-final at Páirc Táilteann last May.
Meath won that game by 1-18 to 2-5 with the second Dublin goal arriving in the final minute.
Kildare will provide a stern test for Meath following victories against Wicklow (2-16 to 0-7) in the first round and Westmeath (1-16 to 0-8) in the quarter-final.
With players of the calibre of Carnaross duo Frank and Cian O’Reilly, Moylagh’s Sean Reilly, Moynalty’s James Cassidy and Jason Scully from Oldcastle flying the flag for north Meath along with James Conlon from St Colmcille’s, this is a talented minor team.
Meath minor team (v Kildare): Adam McDermott; Robbie Clarke, Conor Harnan, Brian O’Reilly; James cassidy, Eanna O’Kelly-Lynch, Sean Reilly; Daragh Campion, Ethan Devine; Niall Murphy, Cian O’Reilly, Eoin Smith; James Conlon, Frank O’Reilly, Jason Scully.
