Gary Rogers in Champions League action tonight
It’s a case of another season another appearance in Europe for Gary Rogers as Dundalk welcome Icelandic side Fimleikafelag Hafnarfjaroar FC to Oriel Park this evening for the Champions League second qualifying round, 7.45pm.
Two years ago Rogers was part of the Sligo Rovers side that caused a major shock when they defeated Rosenborg 2-1 in Norway before losing 3-4 on aggregate.
He was also part of the Dundalk team that was narrowly defeated 1-2 on aggregate by the highly-rated BATE Borisov from Belarus last summer.
Fimleikafelag Hafnarfjaroar, or FH Hafnarf Jordur as they are also referred to, are the reigning champions in Iceland, a country that made a big splash in Euro 2016 where the defeated England by 2-1.
The Bohermeen man will aiming to help his team get a win tonight and a couple of goals in the bank for the trip to Iceland next week.
