Three for Gordon Elliott at Downpatrick
Gordon Elliott is the latest Meath trainer to record a treble after Ger Lyons and Eddie Lynam on the flat in the past week as the Royal County handlers maintained a good strike-rate.
Elliott completed a national hunt treble at Downpatrick this evening with Westinmare making it three for the trainer in the final race on the card at the Ulster track in the colours of owner Vincent Walsh.
Nina Carberry had the steering duties and started to make progress over two furlongs from home to go on and win by half a length.
Elliott was on the mark earlier with Carrig Cathal and Blessed King both ridden by young jockey Jack Kennedy.
Another Meath trainer, Gavin Cromwell, was also on the mark when Scenic Star recorded a first win over hurdles with jockey Brin Kane on board.
KILLARNEY
Moynalty jockey Declan McDonogh was on the mark at Killarney when he partnered Aimhirgin Lass for trainer John Oxx to victory.
Aimhirgin Lass won in the colours of President Michael D Higgins.
Trim jockey Colin Keane added another winner to his tally with traner John Joseph Murphy supplying the ammunition and Barry Geraghty was on the mark for owner JP McManus in a hurdle race.
