Killyon earn draw as Kildalkey lose Derek Doran to injury
Killyon staged a late rally to earn a valuable SHC draw with Kildalkey in Trim this afternoon as second-half goals from Stefan Kelly and Keith Keoghan gave them a lifeline on a 2-12 to 0-18 scoreline.
This was an expensive outing for Kildalkey who were well on top with 10 minutes remaining as they enjoyed a 0-16 to 0-11 lead, but they lost Derek Doran in the opening half when he sustained what looked like a serious knee injury.
Conor Kearney scored 10 points for Kildalkey while, apart from the goal, Keith Keoghan sent over eight points for Killyon.
Next weekend Kildalkey will face Navan O'Mahonys and Killyon will face Kilmessan in the third round before a break for football that will see the hurling teams have a rest until mid-August (estimated)
