Sligo double for McDonogh
Moynalty jockey Declan McDonogh maintained his recent good from in the west of Ireland when he once again teamed up with Tipperary trainer Andrew Slattery for a double in the rain at Sligo this evening.
The duo won the opener with Jose Echegaray, a horse named after a 15th century writer (apparently) and then won with An Saigdiur.
McDonogh had five winners in Galway last week and two more in Sligo tonight takes him on to 33 for the season.
It has also been a good week for Bohermeen sportsmen (Kevin McGrath in athletics and Gary Rogers in soccer) and Johnny Murtagh continued the trend when landing the feature with Rory Cleary on board Soul Searcher.
The French-import was running in Ireland for the first time for owner Wendy O'Leary.
