Winner for Gerry Keane and Mark Flanagan at Sligo
The Gerry Keane-trained Effernock Lad was of three Meath-trained winners at Sligo's national hunt meeting this evening when winning the Leo McMorrow Memorial Handicap Hurdle.
Kells jockey Mark Flanagan took the lead two from home but was under pressure from Who's Cross looked a big danger turning for home.
However, the duo held onin the closing stages to win by a length. Keane had a second runner in the race, Storm In September, which finished sixth for the same owner.
The Gordon Elliott trained Desoto County returned to winning ways as the Longwood-based trainer recorded a double in Sligo.
Desoto County, favourite on each of last three starts, won a hurdle under Jack Kennedy and could go to Perth next.
Elliott also won the Ladies Pro/Am with Pat's Oscar with Lisa O’Neill on board.
