Andy McEntee appointed for a three-year term
Andy McEntee was unanimously appointed as Meath's sixth manager in 10 years tonight at the Co Board meeting in Seneschalstown for a three-year term and he will start immediately with a backroom team of Gerry McEntee (brother), Finian Murtagh and Donal Curtis.
'This is the ultimate management job in Meath and I'm a Meath man, this is what I enjoy doing so it has been an ambition of mine, I'm not breaking any secrets by admitting that. I'm looking forward to the challenge,' the new manager told the Meath Chronicle only minutes after his appointment was ratified.
At the meeting tonight Co Board chairman Conor Tormey outlined the process that was followed to source a new manager with six individuals nominted by the clubs.
Four of the six included McEntee, Sean Barry, John O'Brien (Curraha) and Ciaran Conlon (St Michael's) who were all contacted and interviewed after they expressed interest in the position.
The interview committee comprised Conor Tormey, Mick Lyons, Liam Keane, Jim Mullery and Peter O'Halloran.
That committee also sought the view of the Meath team's player representatives - Donal Keogan and Donnacha Tobin.
The proposal for McEntee's appointment was supported by delegates Noel Dempsey (Trim) and John Reilly (Dunboyne) and received unanimous support from the delegates.
