Slane-Drogheda Road closed following fatal collision

The N51 Slane Road outside Drogheda is closed and diversions are in place following a fatal road traffic collision last night.
Gardaí are investigating the collision which occurred on the N51 Slane Road, Drogheda, Co Louth at 10.20pm last night.
A pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was struck by an SUV. The driver remained at the scene. The injured man was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
The road at the scene is closed to facilitate an examination of the area by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes via Tullyallen or Collon (for HGVs), or via Donore on the southside of the Boyne.
