Motorcyclist killed after bike collides with cow

A motorcyclist has died after his bike collided with a cow last night.

The accident occurred at approximately 10pm on the N51 Navan to Athboy road at Clarke's Cross two miles outside Navan.

The male 28-year-old motorcyclist was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

The N51 Navan/Athboy Rd was closed overnight and will remain sealed off until this afternoon both ways at Clarke's Cross following the crash. The local approach roads to this junction are also closed. Diversions are in place. 

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone who may have been on that stretch of road between 10pm and 10.15pm is asked to contact them at Navan Garda Station on 046 9036100, The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
