Leaving Cert students celebrate
There were excited and happy scenes across the county today as Leaving Certificate students celebrated the results of the milestone exam.
The Meath Chronicle met quite a few out and about celebrating with friends after collecting their results and most proved very happy, with some anxiously waiting to see what Monday’s CAO offers will bring.
Mary Mulligan principal of St Josephs Mercy Convent said she was delighted with the results.
“We have had strong results in the sciences and languages, in fact right across the board.
“There has been talk about the high failure rate in maths, but we certainly saw no evidence of that,” she said.
While the school had quite a few high achievers - a source of delight for the staff, they were also thrilled that the majority of the students had reached their potential.
Some 2211 students sat the exam in Meath this year in 19 schools around the county.
Of the 2211 students who sat the exam in Meath, 1101 were female and 1110 were male.
A further 97 sat the Leaving Certificate Applied exam - including 32 females and 65 males.
