Dunganny to host SHC action Thursday night

The Meath GAA Centre of Excellence at Dunganny will host its first SHC game tomorrow evening when Kilmessan's scheduled fixture against Kildalkey will go ahead at the venue.

The following Tuesday night the final of the Feis Cup between Simonstown Gaels and Donaghmore / Ashbourne will take place at the venue.

With the loss of the lights at Pairc Tailteann the Dunganny facility is likely to be used regularly over the next couple of months to stage important games.

MEATH CHRONICLE CRYSTAL BALL ON THIS WEEK'S SHC

GROUP A

Kildalkey v Kilmessan: Kilmessan officials are not best pleased at having to play on Thursday night at Dunganny. Apparently it’s to facilitate Kildakey and that will only make the Kilmessan men more determined to win what is a crucial game for them. How will the lights at Dunganny stand up to championship hurling? Verdict - Draw.

Longwood v Navan O’Mahonys: In terms of survival at the top level this is as big as it gets apart from the actual relegation play-off. Longwood will be bidding to halt a rapid descent after opening with a draw against Killyon and running Kilmessan close before they collapsed against Trim. For Navan O’Mahonys it’s a case of finding a little bit of improvement after encouraging performances against Kilmessan, Trim and Kildalkey. The Navan men will just about shade it. Verdict - Navan O’Mahonys.

Killyon v Trim: Big test for Killyon but they just might be able to pose a couple of difficult questions for Trim in what is likely to be a fiercely contested game. James Toher and Alan Douglas will be key to Trim’s chances and with football also on the horizon it might be a factor in the outcome. Football is less of a factor now for Killyon. Verdict - Killyon.

GROUP B
Boardsmill v Dunderry: Both teams will view this as a game they can win and it’s likely that Dunderry will build on the performance that brought a deserved win against Clann na nGael in the last round. That should set up an interesting fifth round tie against Dunboyne. Verdict - Dunderry.

Blackhall Gaels v Kiltale: This will provide Blackhall Gaels with a gauge of where they are exactly in terms of progression, but they will not have the ammunition to deal with the holders of the Jubilee Cup. Verdict - Kiltale.

Clann na nGael v Dunboyne: This is a big game for Dunboyne who have completely underachieved so far. They can’t possibly lose this time against a Clann na nGael side that disappointed against Boardsmill and Dunderry in rounds two and three. Verdict - Dunboyne.
