OMP maintain good form
OMP Utd maintained their good early season form when they scored two NEFL Div 1 second-half goals against Trim Town tonight at the MDL.
Both teams played very cautiously in the opening quarter with the home team having much more possession, but they couldn't break down Trim's defence.
Trim could have taken the lead midway through the opening half with a fine effort from a free, but Alan Hughes made a finger-tip save.
OMP manager David Doyle brought on Keith Crosse at half time and he caused all sorts of problems for Trim.
OMP pressure paid off in the 57th minute when a perfect cross from Rob Coombes found Andy Kearney who finished brilliantly to the net.
Stephen Casey's man of the match performance at midfield proved to be the difference.
This was evident in the 72nd minute when Casey fed the ball to Coombes who set up Karl Dempsey for the second goal.
NAVAN TOWN
Navan Town earned a good point with a 2-2 darw away to Black Bull with both goals coming from Davy Bowens.
