Gary Rogers called into Republic of Ireland panel
After his performances in the Champions League for Dundalk this month Bohermeen man Gary Rogers has been drafted into the Republic of Ireland senior panel for this week’s international friendly against Oman and the World Cup qualifier against Serbia on Monday.
Rogers replaces Portsmouth’s David Forde after he opted to return to his club to ensure he doesn’t lose his place as first-choice goalkeeper at Fratton Park.
At u-21 level Ashbourne man Kevin Toner (Aston Villa currently on loan at Walsall), Dunboyne’s Darragh Lenihan (Blackburn Rovers) and Dylan Connolly (Bray Wanderers) have been included in the Republic of Ireland u-21 panel by head coach Noel King for the UEFA u-21 Championships Qualifying Round fixtures against Slovenia and Serbia.
The Irish host Slovenia at Waterford RSC this Friday, 7.30pm and then travel to Novi Sad for the first of back to back meetings with Serbia on Tuesday, 6th September, 5pm.
Kentstown Rovers player Lauryn Grier has been included in the Republic of Ireland Women’s u-17 panel to travel to Helsinki next week to play Finland.
