Garda property recovery day in Trim

Dozens of items stolen in burglaries and thefts will be on display in Trim on Thursday as Gardai attempt to re-unite a range of property from jewellery to power tools with their owners.
Where Gardai cannot trace the owners of recovered property, it is kept in the Meath Garda Division's storage facility in Trim and Gardai are trying to find the owners of up to 70 items recovered in Meath through their property recovery day in the Trim Castle Hotel, from 10am to 5pm on 22nd September.
Part of a nationwide property recovery day initiative, the Trim event features a wide array of items including tools, gardening equipment, bicycles and jewellery but also some more unsual items like diving accessories, wetsuits, a folding bicycle and even a wheelchair.
Around 30 of the exhibits were recovered during a recent search of a house in Oldcastle where goods seized included tools, lawnmowers, power washers, bicycle accessories, a bicycle and diving accessories.
All items have been catalogued with catalogues available for viewing in Trim, Navan, Kells and Ashbourne Garda Stations. Items are also on the ‘Meath Garda Crime Prevention’ Facebook page and the Garda Flickr account.
The property catalogues can be viewed from 10am to 5pm in the Trim Castle Hotel and Gardai can take people to the store for a closer look if they believe an item might be theirs.  Sergeant Dean Kerins, who is organising the event, said anyone who recognises property but can't make it on 22nd September can make at appointment at another time to view property.
Sgt Tom Mahon of the community policing unit and Sgt Kerins, Meath Crime Prevention will be on hand to offer advice on security, marking property and also to speak to victims of crime.
The Trim event is part of Garda National Property Recovery day organised in an effort to reunite property recovered by An Garda Síochána with owners and to provide support to victims of crime.
