Rathkenny searching for new manager
Rathkenny GAA club officials are on the look out for a new manager after Des Lane told the players last night that he was stepping down from the position after four years at the helm.
The news came as a shock to the players and officials who had minutes earlier savoured a fine success in the A FL Div 2 final against Moynalvey.
Speaking to the Meath Chronicle after the game, Des Lane paid tribute to the attitude of the Rathkenny players in the final last night, especiallty the way they battled in the closing minutes of the game when Moynalvey were putting on all the pressure.
'It was a steep learning curve, we managed to hang on, we have been comfortable in matches beore and didn't manage to hang on for the win, tonight we did,' he commented.
'We battled it out tonight, that's character, that's character-building, I'm delighted for the players that they can see that they can get over the line,' he added.
When asked about staying on with the club he made no comment, but it was confirmed this morning by a club official who also thanked Des Lane for his contribution over the last four years.
