Killyon or Kiltale for Jubilee Cup ?
The curtain will come down on a memorable year for Meath hurling on Sunday with the final of the senior club championship for the Jubilee Cup featuring three in-a-row-chasing Kiltale against the surprise contenders Killyon who have made steady progress under the guidance of Raharney man Declan Mullen.
'They have serious men up front, serious forwards, they will be moving the ball very quickly, in fact they are strong everywhere, no matter where they puck the ball to you're going to have to bring your best game,' commented Mullen.
'They were beaten by Bennettsbridge by a only a few points in the Leinster Intermediate Club final last year. I watched that game, Kiltale could have won, that's how far they have progressed,' he added.
'No doubt Killyon will have a plan to try and curtail us, but that's just something we will have to plan for and respond to in a positive manner by playing the hurling we are capable of doing, ' said Kiltale manager Brian Gilsenan.
The big game will throw-in at 3.30pm and the guest of honour this year will see former Athboy hurler Joe McGovern honoured with the ceremonial throw-in.
Clann na nGael clubman Marcus Quinn will officiate and at half-time there will be a presentation of High Kings under-age hurling that will feature up to 70 young players.
The curtainraiser will feature the MHC decider between Trim and Kildalkey and the young hurlers from Kildalkey will be bidding to bridge a gap of 68 years since they last won the title.
Victory on Sunday against Trim will see the Tony Donnelly Cup going to Kildalkey and Killyon man Pat Gannon will officiate.
Meath Co Board will also produce their usual high quality souvenir programme (€3) and entrance to the ground will be via Navan O'Mahonys turnstiles and Commons Road with parking available also.
Admission is €15 for adults, concession apply (€10) with children over-12 at €3 and under-12 admitted free.
