Primary Schools' hurling and camogie finals get big crowds

The Meath Primary Schools' hurling and camogie finals brought large crowds to St Loman's Park, Trim on Saturday where the eight deciders produced lots of exciting action as a new format for the competition proved successful.

Traditionally, the hurling and camogie finals were played in June, but a change was introduced for the 2016/2017 school calendar with the football finals for boys and girls now moving from the customary November date to June 2017.

The hurling and camogie finals were scheduled for an October date and all the games were played in good weather conditions on Saturday and on the excellent Trim GAA club pitch.

There will be a special eight-page pull-out in the next edition of the Meath Chronicle with full reports, team, action and presentation photographs plus the announcement of the Generali Pan Europe / Meath Chronicle Spirit of the Final awards.

The awards recognise qualities of character, skill, determination and motivation displayed by the selected player from each final. This is the thirs year of the awards, but the first time that the hurling and camogie finals have been included.

The awards will be presented in a special ceremony at the Newgrange Hotel, Navan on Wednesday 23rd November at 11.30am.
