Three in-a-row for Kiltale
Kiltale battled their way to a third successive SHC Jubilee Cup today at Pairc Taiilteann when they negotiated Killyon by 0-17 to 1-13 as they tallied nine wides for the hour.
Killyon gave a battling performance against the first-half wind as they established a 1-8 to 0-10 interval lead with the crucial goal coming from Adam Gannon in the 22nd minute.
Killyon could have had a second goal when David Raleigh broke through soon after but his effort was scrambled clear.
Keith Keoghan scored five points (three frees), Gannon (two) and Raleigh for KIllyon while Kiltale sent over through four Peter Durnin frees, Ross Ryan (three), Feraghal McCabe, Cathal McCabe and James Kelly.
A minute into the second-half Durnin had Kiltale on level terms from a '65' (it was really a '64' but he got away with it).
Keoghan (free) and Ross Ryan kept it level as they traded points before Durnin edged Kiltale ahead again from a free by the three-quarter stage.
Calvin Ryan restored parity, but James Kelly gave Kiltale the lead again and the point-for-point nature of the contest continued as Keoghan converted two frees for Killyon with Cathal McCabe and Anthony Forde on target for Kiltale.
Substitute Jack Regan gave Kiltale a two-point cushion but JJ Gilsenan replied for Killyon before Adam Gannon had a goal shot blocked and cleared.
Keoghan received the man of the match award but Mark O'Sullivan took the Jubilee Cup back to Kiltale.
