Kiltale advance in Leinster with big win
Kiltale powered into the Leinster Club IHC semi-final with an emphatic victory against Wexford intermediate champions Oylegate today at Trim where they won by 16 points on a 2-24 to 2-8 scoreline.
Kiltale were ahead by 1-11 to 1-2 at the interval, but will not be pleased about the goal they conceded in that opening half after only seven minutes.
That hauled the Wexford men on to level terms 0-3 to 1-0, but that was as good as it got for the visitors who travelled to Trim with a large support.
Peter Durnin scored the goal for Kiltale, a lofted effort that was probably of the fortunate variety, but it helped his side to that nine-point interval advantage.
It was all about Kiltale in the second-half as they survived the loss of full-back David Donoghue before the break and eased to victory with Ross Ryan finding the net nine minutes after the resumption.
Next up for Kitale is a semi-final showdown against the Kilkenny intermediate champions on Saturday 19th November - home venue once again.
The Kilkenny intermediate final will take place tomorrow at Nowlan Park - Carrickshock and Tullogher Rosbercon face up to each other in the decider.
Neither side was fancied to come through their semi-finals and both have been given a tremendous opportunity to make the breakthrough to the senior grade for 2017.
