Cosmos advance in Leinster Senior Cup

Navan Cosmos produced a fantastic performance in the second round of the Leinster Senior Cup in Athlone yesterday when they negotiated top side St Peter's by 1-0 with a fine team performance.

The all-important goal was scored by Ciaran Rogers in the 84th minute following a tight encounter on a pitch that cut up badly as the game progressed.

Next up for the Navan men is another daunting task as they will tackle Sheriff YC, the current FAI Junior Cup champions, in the third round of the prestigious provincial competition.

Cosmos defeated Carlow & District League champions Crettyard by 6-1 in the first round, but the game against St Peter''s this weekend was a step up in class which the Meath side passed with flying colours.
