Joe Lennon, All Ireland winner and Gormanston teacher, dies
Joe Lennon, who captained Down to win an All Ireland senior football title in 1968 and was also on the winning teams of 1960 and 61, has died.
A teacher at Gormanston college, he lived at Stamullen and was one of the early analysts on the Sunday Game, as well as an expert on GAA rules.
in 2000, he was conferred with a PHD in the field of philosophy of sport for his thesis, 'Towards a philosophy for legislation in Gaelic Games'.
He also played for Stamullen,and was a club delegate to the Meath County Board. In 1972, he was a contender for the Meath Personality of the Year Award, and was involved in local politics as chairman of the Slane area Fine Gael branch for a period.

Reposing at his home on Saturday from 12o’c until 7o’c. Removal on Saturday evening to St. Patrick's Church, Stamullen arriving at 8.30o’c. Funeral Mass on Sunday at 10o’c with burial afterwards in Moorechurch Cemetery. Family flowers only.
