One for Geraghty at Kempton
Barry Geraghty made a worthwhile trip to Kempton today where he won the Christmas Hurdle for boss JP McManus with Yanworth which was never that fluent throughout the two-mile contest.
Geraghty tracked the leading pair early on and closed after the third last to lead approaching the last after which Yanworth stayed on strongly to forge clear on the run-in.
The Drumree man didn't finish on either of his other two runners - both pulled-up with Tony Martin's Anibale Fly in the Kauto Star Chase and the Michael Bell-trained Instant Karma in a handicap hurdle.
'He battled well. I had to work a little bit before the turn in, but when we straightened up he came alive,' stated the Meath man.
Geraghty will in action at Leopardstown tomorrow where he has three rides for his boss.
