Top man for Navan O'Mahonys
Navan O'Mahonys issued a serious statement of intent tonight with the appointment of Tomas Ó Flathárta to the manager's hot seat at the Brews Hill club as they set about bringing the Keegan Cup back from the north side of Navan.
O Flathárta will meet the players next week when the preparations begin in earnest for the 2017 club campaign with O'Mahonys set to face Rathkenny in the first round of the A FL Div 1 in early February - a matter of about five weeks.
O Flathárta takes over from Davy Nelson who has moved to Co. Louth and the new boss will have former top Meath player Kevin Reilly as a selector in what will be a new role for the popular O'Mahonys man also.
The former An Gaeltacht (Kerry) player will bring a wealth of experience to his new challenge.
O Flatharta, who lives in Dublin, played with Kilmacud Crokes and was a member of their All-Ireland Senior Club SFC- winning side more than a decade ago.
At inter-county level he managed Westmeath, Galway and Laois - he replaced Justin McNulty in Laois, but stepped down in July 2015 after three years in that role.
