Meath under-21s slump in Hastings Cup
Meath u-21 footballers opened their campaign yesterday when they tackled hosts Offaly in the Hastings Cup, a competition in which they captured the Hastings Shield in 2016 following a series of games in preparation for the Leinster u-21 FC.
Yesterday's game against Offaly was the first 'official' game in charge for new boss Barry Callaghan and his selection team, but it wasn't a great start for the Royal County as they lost by two points.
Offaly won the game by 2-7 to 0-11 with the goals coming from Shane Tierney and Ciaran Farrell.
Following some exhaustive research, the Meath Chronicle sports department can confirm that a Meath u-21 team will be in action this Saturday at Dunganny.
That game will be against Leitrim and the throw-in time is 2pm – according to the information that we can source.
RESULTS
Offaly 2-7, Meath 0-11
Cavan 3-15, Roscommon 0-14
Leitrim 3-14, Wicklow 1-10
