Cosmos advance in FAI Junior Cup
The trip to Limerick proved fruitful for Navan Cosmos today as they proved themselves knock-out specialists yet again with a 2-0 victory over local side Abbeyfeale Utd in the FAI Junior Cup.
This was the perfect way for Derek Coogan and his side to hit back after their disappointing defeat to Thomastown Utd in the Leinster Senior Cup last week.
The visitors were at the venue well in advance of the kick-off and they shook off any effects of the trip out of their legs to be ready for the game.
Cosmos took the lead when Donal Callan found the net to give them a 1-0 interval advantage and they took another giant step to the next round when the skilful Colm Carney netted a superb second-half goal.
When they needed to the Cosmos defence absorbed all the pressure applied by the home side.
Cosmos have shown themselves as cup specialists this season with wins over Sheriff YC in the Leinster Senior Cup. It was also a win that showed they are a team for the big occasion.
They did it again today and with players like Carney, Conor Walsh, Robbie Dillon and Alan Murphy in their side they won't fear their opponents going into the next round of the FAI Junior Cup, a competition manager Derek Coogan had indicated last week his side could do well in.

For Derek Coogan it's the Meath Sports Awards on Friday night where he will collect his monthly accolade.
FAI Junior Cup sixth round
Kilmallock Utd 2, Bellurgan Utd 1
Newfoundwell 2, Evergreen 3
Abbeyfeale Utd 0, Navan Cosmos 2.
Today's win back-up that belief.
