Work starts on Trim Aldi store
Work finally commenced this week on the new Aldi store at Watergate Street, Trim, which is expected to open in November.
While Meath Council granted permission to the German retailer for a single storey discount foodstore in December 2015, this decision was appealed to an Bord Pleanala who gave the green light for the project last May.
Contractors moved on site yesterday and preliminary work has started on the single storey supermarket which includes an off-licence. Some 106 car parking spaces are also to be provided on the 0.79 acres site at Jonathan Swift Street and Watergate Street, which was sold to Aldi by Meath County Council.
News that work has finally started on the project has been welcomed by locals who have been advocating for increased choice and the new store is expected to bring increased business to the centre of the town when it opens.
