Burlingham saves another penalty
Donegal negotiated Meath in a senior football challenge at Derrylin in Fermanagh on Saturday with a 2-16 to 2-5 victory as goalkeeper Robbie Burlingham saved yet another penalty this time from Michael Murphy.
With the visit of Kerry for a NFL Div 1 game on the horizon next month this was a determined performance by the Donegal men against what was an experimental Meath selection.
Michael Murphy netted in the 26th minute after a great pass form Ryan McHugh and the outcome was never in any doubt after that and the Ulster men were ahead by 1-11 to 1-3 at the interval.
A number of players on each side were 'substituted' following a series of exchanges in the second-half.
Donegal - M A McGinley; C Morrison, N McGee, E Gallagher; C Ward, R McHugh (0-3), E O’Donnell; J McGee, H McFadden; C Thompson, M Langan (0-2), C Gibbons (0-4); J Brennan (1-2), M Murphy (1-4). Subs - C Mulligan, E McGrath, P Brennan, M McHugh (0-1), D McGeever (0-1).
