Balreask boys pull clear at top
Navan moved into sole leadership of AIL Div 2C with a resounding 45-3 victory over Cork visitors Midleton, who included former Cork All-Ireland SHC winner Diarmuid O'Sullivan on their wing, at Balreask Old today.
The bonus point for scoring four tries was secured by the 30th minute as tries from Riann van der Vyver, Leigh Jackson, Conor Hand and captain Bryan McKeever boosted Navan to a 26-3 inetrval lead.
Midleton offered very little in terms of an attacking threat and indeed Navan could have won by more, but poor discipline at times saw them concede decent field position.
It was poor discipline that cost Midleton shortly after the break as Hand skated in for his second try with the Midleton side down to 14 men after the sin-binning of Aidan McCarthy.
Even when restored to 15 Midleton could do nothing to prevent Navan from registering a sixth try from McKeever which made it 38-3 and after Eoghan Noonan spent a spell in the sin bin late on, Navan managed a seventh try when returned to their full complement with substitute Colm o'reilly touching down.
The bonus point win sees Navan move a point clear of Rainey old Boys and with a big north-east derby against bottom of the table Boyne on Friday 10th February the Balreask Boys will hope to maintain their advantage at the top.
