REVEALED: Most popular time for burglars and car thieves to strike in Meath
Burglaries in the county were up on last year it has been revealed.
According to the Meath Crime Prevention Facebook page trends showed that break-ins for the month of January were up on 2016.
There was a significant differences in the geographical location of where burglaries took place. You were four times more likely to be broken into if you lived in an urban area compared to the rural countryside.
Typically lots of cash was stolen right across the county and 4am was the most likely time to be broken into if your car was stolen.There was no specific trend in times when the other burglaries occured. Day or night was almost even.
In a number of cases that some burglaries were prevented in homes that high quality doors fitted. Physical security and especially good quality doors is really important in preventing burglaries.
