Update - Power restored to 3,200 customers in Trim

There is a major power outage in Trim today affecting the entire town.
Local businesses and households were without power from early morning .
A number of local businesses are open while others remain closed, according to Cllr Noel French, who said there is very little some businesses can do without power.

A spokesperson for the ESB said the power outage which occurred at 9am was due to a bird strike at an ESB substation. The outage affected approximately 4,400 customers in Trim and surrounding areas. ESB Networks crews were immediately dispatched to repair the fault and restore power.

By 11am, 3,200 customers had their power restored. ESB Networks say these customers may experience further short outages due to the repair work involved while the remaining 1,200 customers will have their power restored throughout the day.

ESB Networks apologised to customers in the area for the inconvenience caused by the outage.
