Homage to Dorothy Parker in Drogheda
Two of Ireland’s top performers Honor Heffernan and Trevor Knight have joined forces to present a musical homage to Dorothy Parker, the renowned writer and civil rights activist, once described as the wittiest woman in America.
While famed for such gems as “Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes clean to the bone” and ““If you want to know what God thinks of money, just look at the people he gave it to”, Parker also had a serious side. Heffernan’s jazzy vocals and Knight’s grungy cabaret style music backed up by a full band combine to give an extraordinary theatrical portrait of Dorothy Parker that is alternately heart rending and at times deeply funny.
The Whistling Girl arrives in Droichead Arts Centre on Saturday 18th Feb, 8.30pm. Tickets €16 / €14 concession are available at www.droichead.com or from the box office at 041-9833946.
