Man arrested over Summerhill hit-and-run
Gardai investigating the hit and run collision which claimed the life of 27-year-old Summerhill man Colin Tuite have arrested a man and he is currently being detained at Trim Garda station.
Gardai had earlier renewed their appeal seeking information on a dark green Ford Mondeo saloon car manufactured between 2001 and 2007.
It has been confirmed that parts of a car were recovered at the scene and close to the scene which are being technically examined as part of the investigation.
The tragic collision occurred about a kilometre outside Summerhill village, on the Rathmolyon Road, know locally as the New Road, on Thursday, 16th February.
Mr Tuite, a pedestrian, was walking towards Summerhill village, when he was struck by a vehicle travelling away from Summerhill that failed to remain at the scene. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains were removed to Our Lady's Hospital, Navan.
Superintendent Brian Daly, Trim, this evening thanked everybody who assisted with this investigation and to everybody who shared the appeals for information.
Mr Tuite will be laid to rest tomorrow (Wednesday) following Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Dangan, Summerhill.
