Supa Wednesday for Robbie Power
The Meath theme was maintained at Cheltenham today when jockey Robbie Power was on the mark with the Alan and Ann Potts-owned Supasundae in the Coral Cup for trainer Jessica Harrington.
Unconsidered in the market at 16/1, Supasundae had beaten no less than Yanworth in a national hunt flat race at Ascot in 2014 with Barry Geraghty on board.
Today at the Festival Supasundae edged out Taquin Du Seuil by two lengths from the final flight with Who Dares Wins in third and Monksland in fourth.
'He was a very, very good bumper horse and beat Yanworth,' remarked the Derrypatrick, Drumree man in a post-race interview.
'I was confident when we got better ground that he'd be a better horse,' added Power - Supasundae won his last two races in soft and heavy going.
Noel Meade's Monksland was six lengths off the winner at the post in fourth place with Donagh Meyler on board.
The Gordon Elliott-trained Tombstone was sent off at 7/2 favourite, but ran a disappointing race and was well beaten from three out.
