Cosmos earn late point against Duleek

Navan Cosmos dropped two valuable points tonight at the MDL when they were held to a draw (1-1) by relegation-threatened Duleek.

Duleek will feel they should have won the game as they conceded a 92nd minute equaliser when a shot from Anto Burke for Cosmos deflected into the net.

That was harsh on Duleek who were ahead from the sixth minute when Daniel Martin headed home from a corner and Duleek also claimed a 'goal' in the second-half but the referee waved paly on.

Cosmos were poor in the opening half and were fortunate to trail only by a goal, but they upped the tempo in the second-half and were in control of the game for long periods without making a breakthrough.

The next big game in the Premier is on Sunday when Boyne Harps take on leaders Muirhevnamor at United Park in Drogheda while next Wednesday night Duleek play Newfoundwell in their bid to survive.

For Cosmos, they have a Leinster Junior Cup semi-final against Dublin club Collinstown and a Challenge Cup semi-final against Johnstown as well as two more games in the Premier League still to be scheduled.
