Operation Thor - Major Garda operation gets underway in Navan

Gardaí are carrying out a two day operation, as part of Operation Thor, in Navan District. The operation began this morning Friday 28th April 2017 and will run until 4am on Sunday 30th April 2017.

Uniformed Gardaí and Detectives from Navan, assisted by Divisional Traffic Units, Regional Support Unit & the Garda Air Support Unit are involved in this planned operation.

The operation involves traffic and crime checkpoints at key routes; high visibility patrols in urban areas; searches of premises for drugs and proceeds of crime; the execution of warrants and inspection of licensed premises.

Gardaí will be manning an Information Stand between 9am and 4pm at Nobber Post Office today, Friday and Navan Shopping Centre tomorrow, Saturday, where they will be available to deal with queries from the public and give crime prevention advice.

So far this morning three people have been arrested, including a suspected drunk driver.
