Van driver viciously assaulted in east Meath robbery


Gardaí at Laytown Co Meath are appealing for witnesses following a robbery this morning, Friday 12th May 2017.

At approximately 9.10am a courier van driver was accosted at a fuel service station between Gormanstown and Julianstown. He was forced to drive his van onto a laneway on the R132. The van driver was assaulted a number of times by at least two males and items were taken from the van. One of the males is described as being 6’ tall, in his 40s with sallow skin, he was wearing a beanie hat and had his face covered with a scarf, he was also wearing a dark coloured jacket. The second male is described as being smaller in height and wearing long black wig.

Investigating officers are appealing for information in relation to this incident. They are particularly interested in a black salon car which was seen travelling southbound in front of the courier van. A white Ford Transit van also believed to have used in the robbery was later found abandoned at Gravemeadows, Stamullen.
