Pedestrian hurt after rocks thrown from Academy Street Bridge
One person was injured when a gang of teenagers threw rocks and stones off the railway bridge down onto Academy Street in Navan on Sunday evening.
A woman was hit in the stomach by a stone during the incident.
Cllr Wayne Forde said he had received with complaints from local residents and shopowners about the incident and warned somebody could have been killed if they had been hit.
'Three cars were also damaged by these thugs. He called on the gardai to provide extra patrols and he is urging Iarnrod Eireann to erect proper safety measures on the bridge.
He was informed by the gardai this week that patrols are now being put in place to deal with this matter.
Theft
Meanwhile, Navan Gardai are investigating the theft of a bicycle from a car parked in the Town Hall, Railway Street, Navan on Tuesday afternoon of last week. The bike is a Orbea Avant H60 flat hybrid bicycle, black with green orbea text. If you see it for sale around the town or know who has it, please contact Navan Garda station on 046-9036100.
