Dunderry emerge victors in Kildalkey showdown

This was a real 'four-pointer' as both sides knew a victory here would go a long way to securing their senior status for another year. 

It took some time for Dunderry to get going on the superb Kildalkey pitch but once they had the breeze, and the sun, on their backs in the second-half there was no stopping them. 

The only goal of the game arrived on 43 minutes and it came from Brendan Wright after some good play by Conor Farrell. 

The goal put Dunderry 1-8 to 0-7 in front and there was no catching them after that.

While Dunderry missed a lot of good chances, especially in the first-half, they fought their way back into the game with the help of a series of points from frees scored by David Gilkeson who ended up with seven points.

Boardsmills had a good first-half and despite three excellent scores from awkward angles by Tommy Leonard after the break the game slipped away from them.

Boardsmill had in their line-up the father and son combination of Stephen Gibbons and Stephen Gibbons, junior. Stephen senior, played at midfield while his son lined out as a corner forward. 

Niall Weir scored early points for them while Donal Flattery and Keith Hamilton also contributed scores over the hour but they lacked a cutting edge in the second-half and Dunderry were left to savour a win that could help them avoid a relegation scrap.
