WATCH: Short film made by Meath youth group on dangers of smoking

A group of young people aged 13 and over along with Youth Work Ireland Meath recently launched a short film they made about the dangers of smoking.

The film was made as part of the Irish Cancer Society's X-HALE 2017 short film competition and was launched at a special screening in Navan Youth Cafe on 7th June.

The initiative supports youth groups to spread the word about the dangers of smoking online and in their communities by creating a short film that encourages young people to be smoke free.

The event was attended by then Navan Mayor Francis Deane, Damien Coyle from Jigsaw Meath, Leonard Callaghan from CYPSC Meath, parents, young people as well as the cast, crew and director of the film.

Mayor Deane said: “It was great to see the young people getting involved with such a fantastic programme” and he asked the group to be part of another initiative happening in Meath soon.
One of the young people Stephen Dagger said: “ It was great to be involved in the X-HALE project this year. We learned about the dangers of smoking and how it affects your health and lifestyle. We got to create our own script and record and edit the whole project from the start. It was a great experience with an important message.”
The group is asking all the community to support their campaign by watching and sharing their film.
