Dunshaughlin 10K - watch the start
Some 773 competitors completed the Michael Manning Memorial Dunshaughlin 10k road race last night with Sergiu Ciobanu taking the spoils in 30:13 which was almost a minutes slower than the time set by last year's winner Peter Somba who finished second in 31:05.
The windy conditions were a factor and meants that the course record set by Noel Cullen (29:21) remained intact. Freddy Keron in 31:06 was third.
Laura Shaughnessy defended her title from 12 months ago in the women's race winning in a time of 34:02, which was 58 seconds of the course record set by Lizzie Lee two years ago (33:13).
Orla Drumm (35:53) was second and Sinead Whitelaw (38=7:13) was third.
One of the last to finish was a group of local runners who were raising money for Dunshaughlin Special Olympics and were running and carrying / pushing a stretcher.
They received a fantastic welcome as they crossed the line.
