Cromwell on the mark at Navan

Gavin Cromwell's Dundalk specialist Political Policy showed a liking for the turf  when winning for the first time in over a year

on the grass at Navan last night.

Champion jockey Pat Smullen was on board and that completed a double for the Offaly man.

'It's the first time he's got his ground on grass, since I got him anyway,' commented the trainer in a post-race interview with irishracing.com.

'He's so well in on the turf we'd have to go again as long as he gets his ground,' added the trainer.

The Ger Lyons trained Buffalo Blues took the opener with Colin Keane on board and that moved the Trim jockey on to 40 winners for the season at the top of the table. He also earned a one-day suspension from the stewards following an incident during the race.

Moynalty jockey Declan McDonogh was on the mark again for trainer Andrew Slattery when Red Sabor followed-up on last week's win at Bellewstown,

CORK

The action at Cork last night was over the jumps and Noel Meade was on the mark with Major Destination in a maiden hurdle.

It was a good evening for Flanagan who completed his first treble.

The Adrian Keatley-trained Mr Champers won a handicap hurdle with Cortown man Roger Loughran on board for his sixth winner of the season.
