Clonard GAA four-mile road race a big occasion
This Wednesday evening (2nd August) there is a unique opportunity to collect a one-off piece of memorabilia at the inaugural Clonard GAA-promoted four-mile road race at 7.30pm.
The event has been organised as a race and funn run to generate some additional funds for the continued development of the club's fantastic new facilities at St Finian's Park and each participant will receive a special medal to commemorate the event.
To mark the occasion the Meath Chronicle will also cover the event with reports on the night from the start and finish and perhaps an interview or two as well with a full report and photographs in next week's edition.
Local athlete Peter Mooney, who won the Oldcastle Road race a few weeks ago, is providing assistance in the race organisation.
'We are expecting over 200 people to take part - runners, joggers and walkers from Meath, Kildare, Westmeath, Offaly and beyond,' he commented.
'The event provides Clonard GAA with a great opportunity to highlight their work in moving their small club forward and if this year proves a success then it will be held again in subsequent years,' he added.
Check in with the Chronicle tomorrow night in Clonard (Facebook) or go along and support the event and view the fine facilities - race start is at 7.30pm.
