Body recovered during the search for Shane Rock

The search for 24-year-old Shane Rock missing since Friday of last week, came to a sad conclusion with the recovery of a body in Duleek last night.

Gardai have confirmed that the remains were those of Shane Rock who had been missing since Friday, 4th August. It is understood the remains were  recovered in the Longford Road area of Duleek at around 8pm during a search involving volunteers from the local community.

The remains were removed to Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, for a post mortem examination.

Inspector Michael Dorrigan, Ashbourne Garda Station has thanked everyone who helped in the search. 'We would like to thank the local community, Meath Civil Defence and all the voluntary agencies involved in the search, particularly the local community.'

On behalf of An Garda Siochana, Insp Dorrigan has extended his sympathies to Shane's family and friends.

Shane, originally from Swords, had been living with his aunt in Duleek for about two years and was last seen at around 8.50am on 4th August. Searches commenced on Sunday and continued over the next five days involving Meath Civil Defence, several voluntary organisations and the local community.
