Meath stun Clare to book semi-final spot
Meath are just one step away from a place in the Ladies All-Ireland IFC final in Croke Park as they stunned hot favourites Clare by 3-15 to 4-11 in a thrilling quarter-final clash in Kinnitty this afternoon.
Leading by 1-5 to 0-4 after 20 minutes following Stacey grimes penalty goal, Meath lost concentration and conceded 2-3 in a four minute spell to trail by five points, but a goal from Niamh O'Sullivan closed the gap to 2-5 to 2-7 at the interval and gave the Royals hope.
Within seven minutes of the restart Meath clawed their way ahead again with points from Marion Farrelly, O'Sullivan, Grimes and Aoibhin Cleary, but then Clare stunned them again with two more goals to move into a 4-10 to 2-10 lead heading into the final quarter.
However this Meath side doesn't know how to surrender and when O'Sullivan bagged her second goal it gave Eamonn Murray's charges real belief and they completed their comeback with Vikki Wall lofting over the winning point three minutes from the end to spark wild celebrations.
