Dunboyne do the business in thriller
In what turned out to be thriller Dunboyne defeated St Patrick's 2-16 to 2-12 in the SFC at Duleek this evening.Â
The result means Dunboyne have now made it three wins from three in their campaign so far. They led most of the way in this encounter but despite having plenty of possession they just couldn't put away a typically gritty St Pat's side.Â
With the help of a goal from Stephen Moran Dunboyne led 1-6 to 0-5 at the interval and early in the second-half they added another point to that lead with Cathal Finn splitting the posts.Â
However St Pat's replied with a well-taken worked goal of their own from Alan Vickers. The play ebbed and flowed throughout with Donal Lenihan finishing well for Dunboyne's second goal but again St Pat's came back.Â
With the help of a Neil O'Flaherty goal St Pat's drew level with five minutes to play but Ciaran Byrne's Dunboyne found and extra gear to finish stronger and secure a third victory.Â
